This Sunday, Drury and I decided to take a day trip for our first anniversary. We drove down to Cave City, Kentucky near Mammoth Cave to have ourselves a little adventure. First, we visited a couple of local shops to look at trinkets and local crafts. Next we went to Dinosaur World, the home of over 150 life-sized dinosaur replicas.
After Dinosaur World we headed over to Guntown Mountain, a "replica" of an old wild west town. Though it made little attempt to be historically accurate (the "saloon" offered soft serve, pretzels, and hot dogs) and was a little run down, we took it for what it was and had a lot of fun.
There was a shuttle that takes you to the top of the hill but we decided to be adventurous and ride the chairlift. It was my first time on one and I was slightly terrified. It was also definitely older than my parents.
Day trips are the best! This looks so fun. And I love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteYay for life-sized dinosaur sculptures!! We have a similar park here in Oregon, its called "Prehistoric Gardens".
ReplyDeleteOh wow. Never could I have ever imagined such an amazing place.
